Sriracha Barbecue Sauce
Bubba Durand

A spicy and sweet barbecue sauce made with Sriracha sauce. Sriracha is a sweet, hot, red chili sauce originally from Thailand (although the most commonly available brand in the US is made in California).

1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
2 T olive oil
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 C red wine vinegar
1 t dry mustard
2 T worcestershire sauce
1/2 t freshly ground black pepper
1/4 t salt
1/4 C Sriracha sauce (or more if you like it hotter!)
1 beer

Cook the onions and sliced garlic very slowly in the olive oil until soft but not browned.
Add remaining ingredients (except beer) and simmer for 1/2 hour.
Add half of the beer. What to do with the other half is left as an exercise for the student.
Puree the sauce using a stick blender, regular blender, or food processor.
Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, until thick.
